There are lots of great ideas for costumes in the Burlesque movie.

Here are some of my favourites.

Cher and the ringmaster look

In this routine Cher is wearing sheer tights with a corset under a jacket with tails.

Check out the burlesque corsets category to choose a stunning corset to wear under a short jacket or one with tails to get this look.

The dancers have boy shorts with corsets or bikini tops, over the knee stripy stockings and sailor hats

Burlesque costume - tutu and corset

Another great look on Cristina Aguilera is the tutu costume. This outfit can be made by combining a corset with a tutu or petticoat. Add sheer stockings and high heels and a straight blond bob wig.

Flapper wig with beaded dress

The famous look from the movie trailer is the beaded dress with the blonde flapper wig. I love this look! Ostrich feathers, beads and a fabulous blonde wig. I’m on the lookout for a bead dress to put on this site so if anyone finds one please let me know where to get it.

Burlesque look for men

Guys, if you have good arms this look is perfect! A waistcoat over a bare chest or a white vest with a bowler hat and black trousers is all it takes.

Add a smouldering look or a one-eyebrow raise and you’re set!

Cabaret costumes at the UK premiere

Cabaret costumes for women are also very easy to achieve. Take a black corset, a bowler hat, a black petticoat if you don’t dare to bare or else just wear boy shorts over black fishnets.

Short gold dresses in any style will never go wrong as part of a burlesque theme. In fact, short sparkly dresses in any colour will work!
