Burlesque is back!
This is a great interview done by CBS with Dita Von Teese, a well known US burlesque performer. It’s from a couple of years ago but there’s no doubt that burlesque is still well and truly back.
What I particularly like is that she points out that Burlesque is a different kind of sexy – it’s about glamour, it’s about having fun with it and it’s something anyone can create.
She also points out that the new revival is taken up mostly by women. The burlesque costumes are definitely sexy but they are changing the idea of what is sexy. “It’s like the opposite of the girl next door”.
